Writing a Memoir: Storytelling, Truth, Time, Memory, and the Imagination with Neil Besner

Drawing on the experience of the instructor, this workshop discusses the process of writing a memoir from first to last. It explores the differences and relations among fictional and nonfictional forms — between a novel and a memoir, between invention and recollection, between memory and the imagination. Discusses the uses and misuses of memory and “true events” and discusses how to organize and develop material and a voice.
